As you may know from our last blog, SASS were invited by UNISON to join their Annual Delegates Conference in Brighton from 18th-21st June.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Libby Nolan, UNISON’s President for 2023-2024, whose choice of SASS as her Presidential Solidarity Project has made this all possible.

Our team had their own solidarity stall at the event to speak to attendees about SASS, and they launched our brand new game, Snakes and Ladders: Special Asylum Seekers Edition!

Here’s what the team thought about the trip:

“It was the most amazing experience I have had in my life, because I met many people working for different communities. I could share my migrant experience and how the Welsh people have motivated me to believe that anything is possible and that there really are good people in this world.”

“Being part of the UNISON conference in Brighton was amazing! It gave me an opportunity to showcase to delegates the good work SASS has been doing for Asylum Seekers & Refugees. I also learned a lot of advocacy work that UNISON is doing for the advancement of welfare and rights of all the workers in the U.K. I had a privilege to meet, chat to & thank Libby, the President of UNISON for her support to SASS.“
