A huge congratulations to our wonderful Play Leader, Ruth, who has won the Embedding Play award at the Swansea Play Sufficiency Awards 2025 led by Swansea Council!

Ruth has been at the heart of our Welcome to Play sessions at SASS, creating safe, joyful, and inclusive play experiences for children and their families. Ruth herself was an asylum-seeker, and has 20 years of professional experience in special needs education. She plans every session in detail to provide outstanding play experiences.

Nobody does more to improve the lives of asylum-seeker families in Swansea through play. Ruth has enabled the SASS playscheme to exceed all expectations. It enables SASS to welcome all families and spreads the message that play is vital to children’s lives.
