As we come to the end of another year, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported SASS through our Christmas gift donations. Once again, the generosity of our community has been fantastic, with hundreds of gifts donated for us to share with men, women and children attending our end-of-year Christmas celebrations.
We are especially grateful to Hay, Brecon and Talgarth Sanctuary for Refugees (HBTSR) – both the volunteers who helped organise donations and everyone who contributed so generously, as well as Cwtch Mawr who provided us with lots of play doh and board games. Your continued support makes a real difference to our work and to the people who attend SASS.

This year, local schools also created colourful Christmas cards to share with children in the Welcome to Play project. The cards included messages of welcome: “you’re safe,” “you are always welcome here,” and many warm “croeso” messages.

Gifts were shared with all attendees during our final Friday and Saturday drop-ins of the year. On the Friday alone, we welcomed 175 adults and around 110 children. These donations helped make our Christmas drop-ins feel extra special, creating moments of joy, dignity and celebration at a time that can be difficult for many.
We simply could not provide events like this without the ongoing support of our volunteers, donors, and partner organisations. Your generosity strengthens SASS and helps us continue to offer a warm, welcoming space for people seeking sanctuary.
Thank you to everyone who makes SASS what it is.
Our drop-ins will reopen as normal from Friday 2nd January – please check our calendar for updates. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from everyone at SASS! 🎄✨
